Zooks! Forsooth!

WE LEARNED SOME THINGS TODAY

First off, a big congrats to Hall Hunt who edged the lovely Juliet Lee today by 3/4 hot dog. Hall finished with a personal best 28.75 HDBs, and it was a dogfight until the end. Tim Brown finished with 25, and Pat Bruss did a damn good 23.5.

I finished with 10.5. Of course I wanted to do more, but I'm cool with it. And, I got to be at the table-end (right next to the huge trophy that Hall was soon to receive) which more than made my day. It was hot, the water in the dunking cups was like 80 degrees by the time the contest started, and the dogs look 5 times bigger when you're on stage. That being said, there were lots of talented eaters on stage. It was a lot of fun meeting and shooting the breeze with everyone. Everyone was really awesome.

Charlotte Reporter Guy: "So, how many do you expect to do today?"
Super Paul: "Oh, if I get over ten, that's great. If I do 20, I'll pee myself."

Anyways, to sum it up, I had a really good time, and I'm happy for Hall, who's a heckuva guy. Juliet is fantastic, and Tim Brown did really good too. And, I got lots of work to do.

Here's a Flickr gallery of the day's events.

FRUIT, GOOD. CAKE, GREAT. FRUIT CAKE, NASTY CRAP

A bad yearbook photo circa: 1998 (l to r) Chet Kaczor, Jessica Isler, Pear (red), and a very slender yours truly in the Kings uniform.

A fat thank you goes out to Pear for taking time out of his vacation (and his wife for letting him) to swing down from New York in order to watch me stuff my face with hot dogs and breadstuffs. Pear caught two planes on his way down and a bus to get to Greensboro. It's been two years since I've stunk up his apartment and it's been good fun catching up. Pear also has the privilege of being my roomate's brother. This works out well when they see each other.

He's about five feet from me right now, and he's going to kill me when he gets home to see that photo I've dug up.

OTHER THINGS

J.S. Giguere

I did a better job of summarizing last year's Stanley Cup, so here it is, short and sweet. The Anaheim Ducks beat the Senators in fine fashion. And, I can't wait for next season to start already. Where's Ryan Smyth?

FINALLY

Take care.

I kind of relish (no pun intended) the "this guy" title.

it was all made up when my shorts got 2 seconds of TV time on Carolina news 14.
